JOHNSON 2326R GEN III HEMI DROP-IN HYDRAULIC ROLLER LIFTERS WITH AXLE OILING

Upgrade the valvetrain in your Gen III Hemi with Johnson 2326R non-MDS hydraulic roller lifters. This complete drop-in set is engineered for performance street, competition, and high-output Hemi applications.

The 2326R features a reduced-travel hydraulic design and pressure-fed axle oiling to improve roller and axle lubrication. These lifters fit the factory-style lifter trays, allowing installation without converting to a tie-bar lifter system.

Engine Compatibility

Designed for 2003-and-newer Gen III Hemi engines, including:

  • 5.7L Hemi

  • 6.1L Hemi

  • 6.2L Hellcat Hemi

  • 6.4L Hemi

Important Specifications

  • Part number: 2326R

  • Lifter type: Hydraulic roller

  • Configuration: Non-MDS

  • Plunger design: Reduced travel

  • Recommended preload: .035" ± .010"

  • Total plunger travel: .143"

  • Axle oiling: Yes

  • Lifter trays: Uses factory-style trays

  • Quantity: Complete set of 16

  • Country of manufacture: USA

Installation Notes

These lifters may require longer pushrods than the original equipment lifters. Pushrod length must be measured after the complete valvetrain has been mocked up. Do not assume the factory pushrod length will provide the correct preload.

The engine’s MDS hardware must be physically deleted, and the MDS function must also be disabled in the PCM calibration before operating the engine with non-MDS Johnson lifters.

Factory-style lifter trays are required but are not included.

Construction and Performance Features

  • Cold-forged steel lifter bodies that are heat-treated for strength and wear resistance

  • Precision-ground needle roller bearings

  • High-chromium steel roller axles for durability under demanding operating conditions

  • Direct axle oiling for increased lubrication at the roller and axle

  • Extended, precision-fitted internal pistons designed for consistent hydraulic operation

  • Fast-acting disc-style check valves for improved control at elevated engine speeds

  • Controlled oil metering that supplies the rocker arms while helping maintain engine oil pressure

  • Reduced plunger travel for improved valvetrain stability and response

Every set is manufactured in the United States and carries Johnson identification on the lifter bodies.

Vehicle Applications

For vehicles equipped with 5.7L, 6.1L, 6.2L, or 6.4L Gen III Hemi V8 engines:

  • Chrysler 300: 2005–2023

  • Dodge Challenger: 2008–2023

  • Dodge Charger: 2006–2023

  • Ram 2500: 2011–2023

  • Ram 3500: 2011–2023

Vehicle year alone does not guarantee compatibility. Confirm engine type, MDS configuration, lifter tray compatibility, pushrod length, and required preload before ordering.

Recommended Installation Procedure

  1. Remove the lifters from the packaging and inspect each lifter body and roller for shipping or handling damage.

  2. Rotate every roller by hand and verify smooth movement without roughness, tight spots, or binding.

  3. Wipe the lifter bodies with a clean, lint-free cloth.

  4. Apply clean engine oil to the lifter bodies and rollers immediately before installation. Extended soaking is unnecessary.

  5. Thoroughly clean the lifter bores, valley, cylinder heads, and surrounding valvetrain area. Contamination entering the lifter is a leading cause of premature failure.

  6. Inspect the rocker arms, pushrod tips, valve tips, camshaft lobes, and other related valvetrain components. Replace any damaged or excessively worn parts.

  7. Install the lifters and verify pushrod length before final assembly.

  8. Set preload to .035" ± .010".

  9. Confirm that the MDS system has been mechanically deleted and electronically disabled.

  10. Change the engine oil and filter after approximately 50 miles of initial operation to remove assembly residue or contamination.
