Johnson 2116BBR Big Block Chevrolet Link-Bar Hydraulic Roller Lifters

Engineered for conventional Big Block Chevrolet applications, the Johnson 2116BBR is a race-style hydraulic roller lifter featuring controlled slow leak-down operation and a heavy-duty link-bar design. This lifter set is compatible with standard BBC lifter-bore locations in OEM GM and aftermarket Dart blocks.

The lifter body is manufactured .300" taller than a conventional-height BBC lifter, providing the added height needed for proper operation in Dart blocks while maintaining compatibility with applicable factory GM blocks.

Important: These lifters are not compatible with LS-based engines.

Construction and Performance Features

  • Cold-forged steel lifter bodies that are heat-treated for strength and wear resistance

  • Precision-ground needle roller bearings for smooth, consistent operation

  • High-chromium steel roller axles designed for durability and reduced friction

  • Extended cold-forged internal pistons that are precision-ground and fitted for controlled leak-down and resistance to pump-up

  • Fast-acting, high-flow disc-style check valves for improved hydraulic response at elevated engine speeds

  • Controlled oil metering that supplies the rocker arms without unnecessarily reducing engine oil pressure

  • Proprietary link-bar system designed to maintain correct lifter orientation

  • Reduced .093" plunger travel for improved valvetrain control in performance and competition applications

Installation Notes

Always verify lifter-to-block clearance, link-bar clearance, pushrod length, rocker-arm geometry, and lifter preload during final assembly. Differences in deck height, cylinder heads, camshaft base circle, rocker system, valve length, and block machining can affect the required pushrod length.

Set final lifter preload to .035" ± .010" after confirming the complete valvetrain geometry.
