Maxima Performance Break-In 5W-16 is a mineral-based engine oil specifically formulated for breaking in high-performance and racing engines. Its low-viscosity formula is designed for tightly clearanced engines that require rapid oil circulation and reduced pumping resistance during initial startup, dyno testing and ring-seating procedures.

Highly refined petroleum base stocks promote effective piston-ring seating, while Maxima’s proprietary 2X Zinc additive system provides elevated anti-wear protection for camshafts, lifters, bearings, piston skirts and other critical engine components.

The 2X Zinc system combines two different zinc compounds that activate across a broad temperature range. This provides protection during cold startup while maintaining anti-wear performance as engine temperature and load increase. The formula is suitable for flat-tappet camshafts, roller valvetrains and other applications requiring maximum protection during initial engine operation.

Application Notice

This product is formulated specifically for engine break-in and is not intended as a normal extended-service engine oil. The 5W-16 viscosity should only be used in engines with appropriate bearing clearances, oil pressure and operating-temperature requirements.

Follow the engine builder’s recommended priming, startup, break-in duration, load and oil-change procedures. Replace the oil and filter after the prescribed break-in period.
